Hi,
i know that I have several unfinished EFI Projects on the bench. I hope that I gave at least some impressions and ideas to fellow GL1000 enthusiasts. All of my projects have in common that the mechanics are the most complicated part. If you go the GL1200 sei route you end up making changes to the frame and the look of the bike. If you go the GSX600R throttle body route you have to build yourself an airbox and the cross linkage system (which is really difficult). Now I found a realized project (http://deansnakedwings.blogspot.de thx to Dean for showing his setup) which is obviously on the way to be on the road again. I had a while ago a comparable idea and pulled it out of the drawer My design is way simpler and I would like to hear your opinion. My design is very straight forward. The Injector sits right in the middle of the Injector cap and will squirt under 90deg in the air flow. I don't know if this will cause some problems with the fuel distribution, but the original fuel outlet is right on the opposite (upwards from the float bowle) side. If this could work it would be a simple solution for the carbs beyond repair. Close all holes and put the injector caps in and you would have mechanical working unit. Eventually it is possible to modify the original CV caps to hold the fuel rail and the to hide the injectors and connectors. I will find out.
What do you think?
P.S.: there is a commercial solution for Vmax down draft carbs: http://roadstercycle.com/yamaha_vmax_fu ... cv_car.htm with a little "fuel deflector" I think it is not necessary )

Re: GL1000 stock carbs with Injectors?
I like the setup with one question regarding angle. Seems like Most of the injectors are pointed down toward the valve and is there a penalty with spraying at the floor of the carb throat.

Re: GL1000 stock carbs with Injectors?
That is exactly the question. Another way to convert the original carbs could be to mount the injectors inside the air box from behind in flow direction like in early race fuel injections. Could be the better way. Lets discuss all possible ways to get fuel air mixture in the original carb setup Choke flaps wouldn't be needed. So at least there would be a straight way through the carb. And, the look would be untouched!
