I had this machine for the last 5 years. I have to say it was the best car I ever had.

I had it a few years, and suddenly it developed a noise in the top end.
A tapping noise, which was traced to the top of the left cylinder bank at the front.
It turned out that one of the rockers had broken.
There was a small garage near where I live run by 2 guys from Slovakia.
I had used them to do some work on the car in the past, so I got them to sort it out.
I asked them to replace all the rockers, and fit a new timing chain too.
The guy who did the work his name was Josef, looked at me and said that this meant taking the engine out as all that stuff was at the back.
I said to him go ahead. Here is the power plant on the floor.

Engine had to be split from the transmission to get access to the timing gear.
This is the timing gear in all of its glory.

Makes the old SBC look a bit more attractive - despite the fact it's a 65 year old design.

OH Baby!! No thanks. Not in the budget. How many miles/kilometers on it at the time of repair?

Things you don't want to hear when you try to start it...."I think the timing is off a tooth". :IDTS:

There was something over 200,000 miles on it, maybe 205,000.
I put on another 80,000 over the next few years. Sold it last October with around 285,000 on the clock.
I would say it was good for another 300,000. It was running sweetly (what V8 doesn't) used no oil, loads of power,
did about 38 miles to the gallon of Diesel. 4 wheel drive so went around corners like on rails.

Startup was pretty routine. No niggly problems afterwards either, which to be fair I was expecting some.
