Wingrider I see you are in St.Michael I was working in Fairmont which is a good ways South of you. There was an abandoned garage down the road from where I worked with a lot of old Minneapolis Moline tractors just left there. I took some pictures I have them somewhere I will post them.

Re: Did somebody say...."Tractors"??
I spent my youth years during school summer holidays driving one of these. It is still in a barn on the farm where I grew up. Needs to be refurbished was in poor shape last time I saw it.
3 cylinder Perkins diesel. A tank of fuel about 5 imperial gallons would keep it running for a week. 1964 model.

My neighbour had one of these at the time. Ford 5000. As kids we thought this was huge and I suppose it was for the time.

Re: Did somebody say...."Tractors"??
Those old Ford's were pretty much unbreakable. They are all gone now, they all got sent to Africa or Asia to be refurbished and start a new life out there. There used to be adverts in the farming papers over here looking to get farmers to sell them their old Ford's. They were offering around 5000 pounds for them at the time which was way more than they were worth as most were simply worn out.

My neighbour also had one of these, a Nuffield 10/60 with a BMC 4 cylinder diesel. No power steering.

Yep, Fairmont is a bit south of us. Been down that way for some parts for my Hotrod lawn tractor.Liam wrote:Wingrider I see you are in St.Michael I was working in Fairmont which is a good ways South of you. MM’s were fairly prevalent back where I grew up....spent a few hours on those as well!

Yes, tractors. I love 'em. They keep me off the streets and out of trouble. It's becoming a disease.

Re: Did somebody say...."Tractors"??
Some good looking machines and a few interesting projects so far. I also have a few old tractors. Here's one of the last ones I've restored. 1954 Minneapolis Moline UB
'dale
Here's another. 1935 Farmall F20
And a third. 1927 John Deere D
I was pretty active into old tractors about 10 years ago. I've since moved on to restoring motorcycles. Not near as much grease and mess, the parts aren't quite as heavy, they don't take up as much space, and once in a while a motorcycle will end up being worth more than the investment cost.'dale
I'd rather be lucky than good lookin'.

Re: Did somebody say...."Tractors"??
Seeing as I am the primary mechanic for Dad's 1945 2N I spend more time wrenching on it than using it. But come Deer Season I usually get to play with it some. My Buddy in SC has a Ford 4630 with a front end bucket that we use for a lot of general purpose stuff.

Just found pictures of my Grandsons' JD 420W, with straight steering wheel. His number one Birthday present. He is eight now, and drives it when on the Farm.
