Light sport is a great way to go if you just wanna have fun! There are some awesome planes in that category that are light years less expensive and more fun to fly.

Me I am a rotor head. Have a hour or 2 at the controls of a C-12 but most of my time is Military Helo's. Have flown RH-53D's, UH-1N, CH-53A's, MH-53E's and a couple home made jobbers. I am not a pilot but as a crewchief over the years I accumulated enough hours that I can get one in the air and safely back down if I need to. Most of my "Stick" time was in the Huey. Having been retired now for 13 years I do miss it.

I have about an hour in a Robinson R22 and and I can see it would take me some serious time to develop those skills , Like to balance a marble on a bowling ball. I respect those that can and Stick to my RC Helio.

You rotorheads amaze me. More power to ya, but I prefer my wings bolted firmly to the airframe... not whipping around over my head. Amazing machines, but it’s definitely fixed wing for me!

American airlines was hopping this one around the country before it ended up in the Smithsonian. This is the one I rode in. I was seated at the second to the back window (1964 when I was 11)

Here’s a cool one for the rotorheads. Fire fighting sky crane was helping out with the wildfires here a couple weeks ago. Talk about a sweet looking naked engine.

Cessna Skymaster, That's a pretty cool airplane.

There's a hang glider for sale on craigslist. I actually thought about it for a minute, but alas, I came to my senses.
Now........... maybe one of those Bensen Gyrocopters :orange . remember those?

Yea Sky Cranes looks weird but they do a job for sure. Kind of a cross between a H-3 and a H-53 but without a body. Originally designed for the Army I believe they were used to move containers and now in the civilian world they do fire fighting, construction (think big HVAC systems), and logging. I think Erickson owns most that are still in service and I believe they have the only overhaul license for them.

Yes, the Skymaster I was in a fair bit was my uncles. Recall that it drank fuel pretty well. Was glad it had two engines when the front one quit mid air...

Love the F15, Gashog. That’s the plane that got me excited about flying in the first place. I wanted so bad to fly those when I was a kid... then I ended up 6’5” tall and needing glasses.

Work brings me to Ocean Reef Airpark (Key Largo, FL) today, and lucky me it’s vintage weekend! A lil Honda throw in...
