You guys may have browsed through my "junk or project fodder" thread where I picked up three poor old forgotten Honda motorcycles. Friend of a friend passed away had them. His son was trying to clean out the garage so he can sell the house. Two Honda 750s and a Honda 400 Hawk.
And this Firebird.
Complete extra engine freshly built never fired. New crank, rods and pistons, rebuilt heads, two turbo350s, engine stand and the hoist thrown into the deal. Also pick up truck bed full of associated bits and pieces for the car including new in the box performer intake and carburetor. Numerous other new and used parts of boxes the guy was collecting to do a restoration. Arizona car. Zero rust.
I am embarrassed to even say what I paid for the car, but the young man simply wanted it out of the garage. So we came back for the car after we took the motorcycles home! Right place right time?

Re: The Accidental '79 Firebird
My two sons grew up watching me restify cars and trucks. After divorcing their Mom 12 years ago, I switched back over full-time to motorcycles since they were cheaper and you could get more in less space.
This will be a group effort between the three of us. Then it will be joint ownership between the two of them. I hope they can figure that out… LOL. Truthfully, I had intended to flip it. They convinced me otherwise. And the more I thought about it, it might be my last chance to do a solid father-son project with both of them.
Soooo...

Re: The Accidental '79 Firebird
awesome. could never get my son interested in working on cars,etc..his grew up in "gamer" times. However when I bought the jetta for him I told him it came with conditions.,..one being he was going to learn how to do basic maintenance on it. He is proficient now in changing his tires from summer to winter, oil changes and he replaced the emissions purge valve by himself.desertrefugee wrote:My two sons grew up watching me restify cars and trucks.
