wish me luck..

I've started down a Riley 1.5 rabbit hole..
It was my parents first car when they got married and the only car dad ever talked about.
we found one 23 years ago, then dad found another one in alberta. He and mom drove out, bought it and towed it home..
he started working on them then like a lot of projects, it got put on the back burner.
It's been on my mind a lot over the years so 2 days ago I decided that it's time.
He is 80 years old and I want him to be behind the wheel on the road before he is to old to drive or is gone.
We drove to Nigari Falls many years ago and bought brand new (40 years ago) doors, trunk, grill and other various parts.
My plan is to bring the Alberta car (it's a runner) here, put it together and do any tweaking, etc, inventory what we need, strip it down and get it body worked and painted over the winter then hopefully in the spring assemble it and go for a drive with dad and my son.
This is the current state of both cars..the blue one is the Alberta car.

I had never seen nor heard the name before. Were these cars marketed and sold in Canada?

Yes they were. Made for the Canadian market as they are left hand drive. Dad used to gymkhana with it before kids happened.
This isn't dad's but its a 1.5

That pic of the car n the garage reminds me of a story someone told me of a guy whose garage got so cluttered he couldn't find anything in it. He decided to have a garage sale to clear it out so he opened the door and set up a table with a cash box in front of the garage with a sign that said "Everything in garage for sale. Make an offer." and sat there collecting money. Toward the end of the day a guy came up to him and asked "how much for the trailer?" Surprised, he looked inside the garage for the first time in hours and there it was. He had been trying to remember which friend had borrowed that trailer and not brought it back for a years.

My garage looks almost that crowded right now.....

He found a chain saw he forgot he had..
It's going to be a struggle. Dad was a kid during the war and lived in a small coastal fishing village. Like pretty much everyone during the war..they didn't throw anything away.
There are a lot of useful things in there..then there is the 35 year old water softener..
My sister and her husband are coming up near the end of the month...he listens to her so she will be the save, throw away person.
