The fork ears on my '78 have threaded holes at the bottom. They are M12 fine threads (M12-1.5 as I recall). I purchased two short bolts and put a tap through the center to match the turn indicator posts (5/16-18) and then cleaned up the hexes by spinning the bolts in the drill press and hitting them with a file. Polishing made them look respectable and red loctite keeps the parts from rotating out of position. It is an unobtrusive mount.
