Re:
I used three old longer bolts and threaded them into the water pump and hit the bolt heads with a small hammer. It pushed the pump right out.jstengel wrote:I cannot get the water pump out of the housing. Shall I press it using the three bolts backed out a bit or whack it? What kind of pressure can the shaft take? I hesitate to whack it or press it. I gave it a few "love taps" but now I am seeking advice before going further. Thanks in advance.

Re: Water Pump Job
I used a #3 phillips to remove the tranny. cover screws. I smacked them first with a brass drift, and they came right out. I was actually suprised how easy they came out. I struggled at first with an assortment of tools, but then realised if you push against the screws really hard while turning they come right, even with the screwdriver angled. Going back with Robin's bolt kit.

Re: Water Pump Job
Do you need to put gasket shellac or some sort of sealer on the transmission cover and the water pump gaskets or leave them dry?

Re: Water Pump Job
I've done 2 water pump jobs and left both dry. No leaks from either.OldRider2 wrote:Do you need to put gasket shellac or some sort of sealer on the transmission cover and the water pump gaskets or leave them dry?
