Great info!

The only thing I have a question on is that from your photos the 75 - 76 (non-ltd) do not have the chrome trim around the back of the seat, so if they share the same pans as the later 1000s, do they have the holes to mount the trim?

I know that the 78-79 stainless trim parts are slightly longer than the 76 LTD and the 77s so the mount holes are not quite right (found this out this morning). I made the front ones work, but I need to drill two more holes to mount the rear one.

Another example of why this forum is so excellent.
Many thanks, Placerville.

Very good question and good observation.

Does anyone out there have a (for sure) '75 or '76 (non LTD) bare pan they could eyeball? The question is: Did the '75 or '76 (non LTD) pan come with factory pre-drilled holes around the back? (They wouldn't be used for those years but, would later accommodate the rear trim of the LTD, the '77, '78 and '79).

Keep the questions coming. Many eyes on this will find these errors.

Calif Wingnut, I PM'd you about your comment above. I need some clearifiacation.

So it is certain that a 1983 seat will definetly only fit a 1983 and not 80 - 82 ?

75-77 pans are the same, while the 78-9 have a deeper/taller rear metal lip section per the pictures here, maybe other mods per foam shape/height on the sides but will fit all 1000's.

All 1100 seats fit all models. In 83, Honda moved the trunk mount rack Back and Up with a higher passenger back rest for more passenger comfort and thus, extended the length of the rear seat to fill the void as I recall but, it won't make any sense to the bean counters so I'm probably wrong saying this ?

The 82/83 grey/tan/red Aspencade seat covers turned sticky/stained shorty after purchase this I remember very well.

Will the 83 seat contact the earlier 1100 trunk rack? I have a 83 seat and its about 34.5" long overall.

Also, I installed an 'ebay' "1976LTD" aftermarket seat cover on a 78/79 pan/foam. Other than the mentioned differences in the mount holes and trim, it worked fine with no issues on the lower rear section. It is a little loose fitting in the front 'butt' area, the "Honda" is not centered (none of the factory ones I have had are, but not as far off as this one), the lower seam is not even, and the front beading angles a little rearward of where it should be on the front edges. Please note that I used 76LTD/77 stainless trim off a different donor seat as the trim on the 78/79 seat I had was shot. Some of my issues might be due to using the wrong seat assy. for the LTD/77 cover, but the trim donor 77 seat pan is rusted and seems too weak to use, and I did not want to use the factory LTD seat even though the cover is split in two areas.

For what I paid for both the 78/79 and the 76LTD/77 ripped seats, new seat cover, and new aftermarket strap holders, I'm into this seat for under $125., and it works for me. That said, if someone does this and expects it to look like a $1000. seat; they won't be happy (well, not if I did it anyway). Similar to: If you go to Macco and pay them $500. to paint your car and you are expecting a $300. paint job, you will be happy....

If anyone wants, I can post photos of the seat I recovered.

I'd like to see it 77pinto to compare notes. I remember comparing the side chrome trim stud from my ltd seat vs the 78 seat, with the stud/hole nearest strap mount being a 1" difference.

I have a plain 78 pan here to compare to the 75-76 foam.

Placerville. I had a nice chat with you the other day, thanks for your topic here ~:<)
