Rear: AKRONT 16"-3'50 -D-40-583-DOT
Front:AKRONT 16"-3'50 -D-40-184-DOT
so 3.5"

He did the same thing as I did.; used 16" front and rear rims from AKRONT
and (as I understand it) used the same (rear-type-)tyre front and rear,
but mounted in opposite turning-direction at the front.

i'm also interested in changing the rims for 16"rims with fat tires. why is it necessary to have the front tire mounted opposite?
i wanna go fast......and smooth:)

at a normal set-up what you want for a rear-tire
and from a front-tire are different.
At the rear you want the tire to aid keeping 'straight' 'direction'
...and at the front the forces are different as the tire
must stick when turning ( not in 'line' with 'direction'.)
Some ( but only some (you could call them 'reversible'))
tires are constructed so that when
mounted 'opposite' (at the front) the
properties of the tire changes, so it acts as
what you want from a front wheel tire.
Such tires are marked with arrows showing direction
for front wheel application.

Okay, so I looked through here, and maybe I missed it, but you said that your rims were 16".
Two questions.
1. I'm assuming that those rims were metric?
2. How WIDE were the rims?
I've got a pair of Harley rims that are 16", but I'm wondering if 1. I can put the Goldwing wheel hub into the Harley rim and lace that together and have it work. And how wide it is so I know weather it will fit between the forks of my Goldwing (Gl1000 1976).

I was spending some time with one of my Nephews yesterday and he is big into building performance bmx (stunt) type of bicycles. He laced up his first rim this summer and I asked him a few questions about the process then showed him this thread. Boy did the lights come on
Amazing how this crossed right over to his application
I think he learned a bit also
