WINGIPEDIA - GOLDWING WHEELS 1975-1984
One of the most noticeable features of any vehicle is its wheels. The Honda Goldwings of 1975-1984 went through several wheel changes as technology and fashion changed. Several after market companies also jumped in, creating quite a variety of choice for the old girls.
While there are many different wheels, Honda also changed the brake setups almost yearly. In a later article I will list the various brake calipers, rotors and master cylinders that were used during the golden age of Naked wings. I will be adding to the descriptions as time allows.
For now, here is a presentation and brief description of Goldwing Wheels 1975-1984. -SUNNBOBB

Re: WINGIPEDIA - GOLDWING WHEELS 1975-1984
Great info.
Just want to add that the early Comstars had plastic covers on the rim mount rivets, and the reverse Comstars came in two different sizes. Also, the photo of the Lester wheels for the GL1000 shows a front wheel with 5 mount bolts for the rotor which is for the 78-79, where the earlier GL1000 has 6.
BTW: If anyone knows where I can get new gold spokes for a LTD please let me know.

Great info! I think mother Honda, after going away from spokes, got it right in 84.

Re: WINGIPEDIA - GOLDWING WHEELS 1975-1984
Nice.... as I was scrolling down looking at the pics, I thought the Lester Wheels looked a lot like the old Invader wheels.. And low and behold, a pic of Invaders shows up... Never know they made them for the old Wings... Had a set on an old Sportster I have, but traded them for some parts I needed LOL

Well Done, Sunnbobb!
(not trying to hijack your thread.)
I'm particularly interested in knowing more about the powdercoated alloy Lester wheels.
My front Lester wheel, which was at some time in its life painted blue, needs some attention to the peeling paint. Powdercoating looks an attractive option.
But, I have wondered whether structural issues, that may result from the heat required to cure the powdercoat material, might unfortunately occur during that process? Thanks!!

It's certainly possible.... Powder typically cures ~200C, which is about the same temperature as the aging step in precipitation hardening of certainly aluminum alloys. It really depends on the material is. If it a solid solution strengthened material (5000 series), it shouldn't have an effect. If it is a precipitation hardened material, (6000 series , a356, etc) I would expect an overgrowth of the precipitates (depending on cure time) leading to a small degradation of strength.
