Pedro!'s rebuilding projects

#1

Post by Pedrotq »

Gooday to all,

I live in Perth, Western Australia, last rode on two wheels over 20 years ago, i once bought a 78 GoldWing brand new.

Anyway i got the bug a few months ago to get back onto two wheels, so I bought a 75 GoldWing, stripped her down, then another 76 came up localy complete with another 78 as a parts machine, so i snapped them up too, the guy told me about this other guy who had a 75 Goldwing outfit, she jouned my stable too, then another 78 came available a couple hundred kilometers down the road, i own her now too.

so i am stripping them all down, picking out all the best parts for #1 bike, second best parts for #2 then #3 and #4 gets the worst parts.

the last 78 is going to be kept complete for a bonding project with my 8yo grandson when he shown interest. funny thing is the two 78 machines are 20 units different in the frame serial number, could have been made on the same day? the two 75's are 60 units apart in the frame serial numbers. it is like a big family reunion.

i have many photos to upload so i will do a few a day, and i have found that there is a 5 photo limit to each message.

this last break i did not take many shots, i was too dirty to handle my camera, i stripped down eight cylinder heads, cleaned up the valves, next break i will clean out all the ports and gasket faces.

so enjoy the show.

I would like no nominate Pedrotq for the "jumping in with both feet" award

I would also like to propose we create the "jumping in with both feet" award

What is the fairing on the fully front faired bike? Looks like a vetter upper but what are the lowers?

I have been thinking about it for a couple minutes... this is more "CANNONBALL!!!!!" than merely 'both feet'

Gooday Gents & Ladies if any?

thanks for the kind coments. "What is a Donger?" well i live in Perth but i work in Telfer which is a gold mine 1800 km north of Perth, fly in fly out 8 days on , 6 days off, a Donger is your room, bed, air conditioner, toilet and shower all the size of a small bedroom, with plenty of Geko's (small nocternal lizards) that like to hide under the rim of the toilet bowl and can give you a real supprise when they run across your bum. and lots of Dingo's outside to run off with your boots and chew them up.

As for the fairing, well I seem to recal that there is a name badge in there somewhere, i will check it out when I get home and let you all know.

here are some more snaps for your ammusement. :-)

Note how the 75 frame is different from the 78 frame, the front two supports as I have found out are a real pain in the you know where to remove the radiator cap, so I guess Honda revised the design quickly.

Well the carpet on the bench soaks up a lot of oil, i just change out the carpet occasionaly, the rest of the dirt gets wiped off on the front of my shirt or the towels in the bathroom which sends the wife mad, but then i end up with more workshop towels so it works out well in the end. :-)

Here is the Sidecar Outfit, very, very rough! the leading link front end is home meade, and a terrible job of it too, the enging had an assortment of oddball and incorrect blots and nuts, but the bores had been linished, new pistons, main & big end bearings and a new starter motor.

This is my second 78, she is 20 units older than the other 78. I am planing to keep her in one piece except for the odd part that i may rob off her so i have a bonding project with my grandson when he finishes with his Lego and wants to get into motors and stuff.
