Re: GL 1200 cafe (Te Racer) projekt.
I bought these speedometer and installed it. But neutral indicator light do not work, because wiering is wrong connected. ( or one groung wire is missing) Neutral idicator switch cuts ground connect ( when gear is on switch open circular and when gear is on neutral it connect to ground) not positive, so there should be separate ground wire but there is not.
So if i connect gauges ground to that lead which goes to neutral swich, neutral idicator ligth works ok BUT turn and high beam signallight works only when gear is neutral

I was thinking to renovate Golwing emblems before install but so far when bike is mat black i let them be worn out. Some detail pics. I still looking to find time and become inspired to take some "final" pics.

Re: GL 1200 cafe (Te Racer) projekt.
GL 1200 gotta original bar which is 1" on the middle but 7/8" narrow ends. So far i have not find any other bar that fits. So i am maby making bar holder clamp holes bigger to fit fatbars 27,5mm or try ty make adapter to fit 7/8" on1" clamps. So this bar issue is still on prosses.Easter wrote:Not crazy about the tall bars but otherwise the bike looks great.

Re: GL 1200 cafe (Te Racer) projekt.
Hasnt the bar clamps been drilled out to take 1" bars?
Just replace the top yoke with a gl1100 or 1200 one thats standard

Clip-on handlebars! And go ahead and drop your headlight down to keep the whole profile low and mean. I've never heard of handlebars the go from 1" to 7/8".

Re: GL 1200 cafe (Te Racer) projekt.
I dint know enymore if it is original or not. I can find meny 1987 bars for sale which look totally same. At the end it is no matter either way, original or not. If i want chance bar i gotta salve it anyway somehow.

Re: GL 1200 cafe (Te Racer) projekt.
I learn something new every day. Those sure are 1" in the middle and 7/8" at the grips.
I wonder if you could just get some 1" bars that you like, then cut the ends off and slip some 7/8" bars inside about 1-2" of overlap and weld those in place. It just seems a shame to build such a clean low bike and have ape-hangers on it.
Of course shorter bars means shorter brake lines and throttle/choke cables... or a lot of creative re-routing.
