seafoam or atf, I suppose you could run them together, but have never heard of anyone doing this.

Yes, but remove the air cut off valve with a long 22" phillip screwdriver, as it will impede the removal process.78AZWing wrote:Can the 1000 carb pack be removed the same way that Roady details for the 1100?
Mine is only running on the 1/3 carbs at the moment and with the points and coils firing front cylinders then rear cylinders the problem is most likely the passages in the 2/4 carbs are gummed up.
And have been reading all Randakks' articles on the 1000. Great stuff!
Thanks for the answers.

Re: Carburetor Removal, GL1100
This is awesome info. This might sound stupid. But should I even attempt to rebuild my carbs on my own. I'm pretty good at doing things with a diagram. Especially with you tube walk through. But I have a stuck float valve, and the carbs have never been removed on my 1980 gl1100. What do you think guys. I'd appreciate any help here.

We all had zero experience at one point. If you have the space, the time, the attention to detail and the ability to focus then yes you can probably do a decent job. My first rack took me about 12 hours straight only taking breaks to get a drink and use the rest room. I was very meticulous and they came out prefect. Now many racks later and I can generally do them in about half that time. If you try to go fast and take shortcuts then you are wasting your time and will do it over.

Also, along with the recommended Randakk rebuild kits order his Video. I believe it is made for the 1000 carbs but still good for a first timer to watch. It will show some good techniques.

Don't forget after the rebuild you will need to synchronize them.

And clean out the fuel system ... tank to pump ... and replace the hoses with 1/4 inch fuel line and new clamps.
