1982 GL1100 Carburetor Slide Needle

How do you remove the carburetor needle from the slide on a 1982 GL1100 Keihin 48CATF? Also, other than the outrageously priced Honda needle, what are the part numbers for alternate needles?

on a 1000 you unscrew the brass plug in the top and the needle comes out that way. Roady has a pretty extensive how to for the 1100 carbs here: https://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic ... 61#p102461 But I do not know if he removed the needles or not. For a replacement I would probably look at used. They are pretty hard to screw up, just make sure there are the same year

On the 1100's there is a white nylon plug in the middle top of the slide that has to be removed, then a brass plug that screws in. Be careful to not bugger up the white plug as it slides inside the cylinder of the cap, and can cause the slide to stick or bind. If you can't find a replacement, send me a PM. I should be able to help out...

The bent needle is out and I found a full set of complete slides on E bay for less than the local price of a single needle. Thank you both for your help.

Just make sure the slides are from the same series of carbs as there were changes to the profile of the needles.
