Re: Building long fendered bike
I was eyeing my front fender and it wasn't sitting right. As in way off. The result of going too far, late at night. If I repositioned the fender in it's mounts, the welded-in brace hit the fender. Made new lighter mounts, redrilled fender, test fit. Ah,more betterer! There's a 16 ga. Strip with two 6x1.25 pitch inserts tacked in on the inside, then grommets in the fender, and unthreaded insert outside. Isolated from shock.

Looks great, but you're teasing! We want a full shot of that fender and wheel!

Thank God that my wife stays out of my shop.digschopper wrote:I have 2 days off,the plan is to glass the holes in,primer, and maybe paint. I'll do my best. Maybe lock my crazy wife out so I can focus!
After 30 years of marriage, she has no interest in coming out there anyway. That might sound a little harsh, but we're both happier this way.

Diggin the build, you have some serious talent.
Lovin the heavy cruiser look, same route i went, just not with the talent you have.
No wheelies for you...

Don't feel alone. My wife stays out of my shop as well. But to be fair, she is an artist, and I stay out of her studioBikeMaine wrote:Thank God that my wife stays out of my shop.digschopper wrote:I have 2 days off,the plan is to glass the holes in,primer, and maybe paint. Re: Building long fendered bike
Yeah, this one has been fun to watch. I'm more of a bolt and swap kinda guy, with minimal fabrication and zero paint skills. I know when to tap someone else on the shoulder. I admire folks who don't have to do that...
But, Digs, where exactly in Central Fla is Goatpoop? I spent 12 years in SlOwcala. I'm guessing you're not far from there...

We're in Hernando, next to Beverly hills. Been here nearly 3 years and still don't know anyone. Honestly,I miss NH. Even the snow. If you know Ocala, maybe you know the carbon mill on 41? I work there.

Re: Building long fendered bike
Finished the errant holes, and the nose of the fender was( I know,I'm anal about this stuff) just a bit off. ' glassed a bit extra on the lip, corrected profile with mar- glass, and got it in 2 hits of 2 k primer. Need to mail order a needle for my spray gun,and woop- up some more wicked purple ghost flames. It's so unfair that I spend 40+ hrs a week at a job I hate, when I could be makin cool shtuff instead.

Re: Building long fendered bike
Whipped up these batwing accents in 1/16" in a couple hours this morning after I got out of work. Mocked up the fender just for fun.
