Dugg, congratulations on bike of the month, nice job on that '81! I really admire your choices. It is pretty much what I'm planning for my '81 Standard. You said the bars are a little low. Do you have any suggestions? I want to ditch the stock high rise.

Nice work, congrats.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Great job on the painting. Love the pinstriping.
Goldwings don't accelerate, they gain inertia.

1978 GL1000 - almost stock - needs a head replaced, parts are ready to install!
1979 GL1000 - Winter project/parts bike - custom "Busted"
1983 GL1100 Standard- raised from the dead and back to organ donor status
And the newest acquisition, 1979 XS 650F to be a sidecar tug. crossy.gif

Best of luck with your project. As far as the bars ago like you I was trying to figure out what to put on. I had went from the stock bars to some 1980 CB750f bars I had but I wanted lower. Looking online it gets confusiing and no local shop stocks much of anything. I was at the Honda dealer and sat on the 2017 CB1100 and liked them so I ordered a set. At first I thought they were a bit low and was concerned about longer trips. After riding with them I really like them. It cut down on some of the buffeting I was getting and the bike handle better with them. As I pointed out earlier I had to drill holes in the right place for the controls. I suspect the CB1100f uses the handle bar wieght to make the bars longer

If you are riding in the wind blast, keeping the arms close together will reduce the sail (parachute) effect. Leaning forward will balance the weight on your wrists or the pull from the parachute effect. It is a bit of a balancing act. I have CB400F bars on my CB450K5. As long as I stay forward on the seat it is nearly perfect. The big choice is the fairing. I have a Windjammer V sitting on the shelf. I have also been looking at a Plexi windshield. I want to keep the weight down. THX
