My most memorable fall was on my way home from work on my GS400 one afternoon. As I approached our corner a car was coming in the opposite direction so I slowed down to about walking speed for a couple of seconds until he passed, then gave it a bit of throttle and steered left to make my turn. Before I was going fast enough to be stable my back wheel stepped off of a piece of gravel and before I could react I was tipped past the point of no return.

I landed with my left ankle under the frame's top rail and my foot in the space by the carbs; I wasn't exactly pinned (the frame wasn't on my ankle and I could move my foot within the space) but from where I was I couldn't get leverage to raise it the inch or so needed to get my foot out so I couldn't get up. I sat there, within a couple of hundred yards of my own driveway and watched several cars go by (& move over in their lane to avoid hitting me) before someone stopped to see if I was OK and lifted the bike the inch needed.

I put the knee out of my jeans and broke the clutch lever, mirror and turn signal lens and bent the footpeg slightly. Fortunately I happened to have enough spare parts (and a big hammer for the peg) so I was able to drive it to work again the next day

Glad to hear you are OK. When you start to ride bikes, sooner of later you are going to crash. A few people never do. I've done it three times, off the low side dragging peg through a left curve (skinned up knee), over the handlebars in the whoop de doos (separated three of the five joints in the shoulder) and taking the low side into the ditch at 75 MPH on a then new '76 wing. The last two happened within 6 months of each other. Made me quit riding for a couple of years. When I started back up I know I had to change. The last crash was in 1977. Be safe my friend.
