Handle Bars Sizing

#1

Post by Funkdoctor »

I am attempting to purchase this handle bar from Cognitomotto.com was trying to see if this should be an easy swap. Or will I need to buy some adaptive pieces to make it fit. It is offered in 7/8 and 1 inch.

If this is for a '78, your bars are 7/8". You'll need custom length clutch and throttle cables to use those bars.

I would recommend using the width measurement and transfer it to your current bars to make sure you’ll like it.

Tougher is finding mirrors that your arms and shoulders don’t block your view. They sell extenders to help with that.

Pretty pricey for common painted bars. I bought several through Amazon similar style. The main problem with the lower bars is not the length of the clutch cable, but rather the routing. It gets really awkward if using the stock clocks. Throttle cables can be delt with without changing the length as long as you don;t mind them poking out some. Make sureveverything gets routed according to the drawings in the service manual.

Thanks for all the info. Definitely thinking a mechanic should do this.
