Flaming '75 from Winnipeg
Hi all! I registered a few weeks ago but never got around to introducing myself. While looking at threads I noticed a few other 'Peggers here, figured I'd make a proper introduction.
Been riding for about 8 years now, started with an '83 XS400 Seca that I tore down to the frame and rebuilt. Grabbed an '86 FJ600 (currently torn down and in boxes all over my garage/basement), then picked up a pair of 85/86 FZ750's. Moved up to a '98 ZX6R, sold that and picked up a sweet little '80 XS400 Special, before picking up my '75 GL1000.
The previous customizer of this bike may have been a forum member here, so let me know if it looks familiar to any of you...
(Hopefully this embed code works!)

Hi and welcome. Obviously that has been someone's pride and joy. Not to my taste but looks very well done. Nice ride.

I like that they carried the theme to the frame. That's not common.

I would say the previous owner was a Mike Lavallee fan. that must have been a long process painting all the flames..

Re: Flaming '75 from Winnipeg
Thanks all! Yes, I'm going to keep the flames, as much as I can. The shelter parts and side covers will be kept, but sadly the front Master Cylinder leaked down the side of the frame and rad shroud/supports (which were all painted in the flames).
I found posts from the previous owner who did the flames. (I believe it was Roblittleone - at least the bike in his signature is the same.) I'm sorry to inform you all that he had past away, and his widow gave his bike stuff to his best friend/riding buddy. (Getting this info from the riding buddy whom I bought the bike off). He held on to it for a few years, keeping it in his shed until he decided he wasn't going to be able to do anything with it, and reluctantly put it up for sale.
It had the old Vetter front fairing on it (covered in flames), as well as hard bags, an 83-ish two-up seat, and a sissy bar. It wasn't to my taste either, but the flames have really grown on me, and the bike gets more attention than anything else I've ever owned.
Currently on the hunt for front turn signals and 1 front signal 'stem' to make it complete.
I'm also looking into a new front master... I currently have a Yamaha 5/8 on it (hence the crappy ebay mirrors I had kicking around... they have the stupid Reverse Thread bolts for Yamaha), and I wanted to put Honda parts on it. Has anyone had any luck/experience with a 14mm front M/C from a newer GL?
