Monkey

Post by luludog »

Reliving my youth again. Back in 1970, Pepsi was running a promotion; collect 10 bottle caps, mail them in with a form and “hope for the best”. Never did win.

Last November, bought a new Monkey. Have only put 9 miles on it due to weather and road salt.
Couldn’t leave it alone, so a few mods were in order (Yoshimura exhaust, air intake & remapped ECU).

Ray, I don't remember the contest, but I do remember when those bikes first came out. There was a kid in my neighborhood that got one and he was the envy of the whole gang. We were riding our bicycles and mini bikes and he had the best bike of all. The new ones certainly have some improvements and upgrades, but still capture the spirit. Enjoy

Thanks

Paul, the contest was when we were in Puerto Rico. After the contest/promotion was over; it was found to be a sham. The ten Z50 Monkeys went to higher ups in the Pepsi Corp. It’s no wonder I only drink Coke

I really wanted the Blue 2020, but the dealer had four 2019’s at a great price. The yellow is definitely a Monkey color, but the Pearl Nebula Red caught my eye.

For the curious... the Cub is arriving at dealers. Don’t know all the specs, but I think it has 17” wheels and same 125cc engine. Pretty cool!
