I put the carb thru the ultrasonic to see what I'm actually dealing with. There is a lot of pitting and the float pin is stuck.
I think spending much time on this carburetor would just be turd polishing.
fortunately, there are plenty of cheap chinese knockoff carbs on ebay.
Affordable exhaust on the other hand are a little harder to find.

fun stuff. And I had intended, but forgot, to comment on one of your earlier remarks about "...you can't keep them all".

It's always nice to have a few projects in the hopper. I also find bikes come and go in my shop, but most come and fewer go. It is really hard to decide which ones not to keep.

Besides, as I tell my wife, they are like money in the bank. Seems to be working so far...

As long as it is a good vendor. Avoid kmotorwholesale2008 - he adverised shipping from Kentucky, but shipped from New Jersey, FedEx Smartpost which ends up delivery (when they finally got it USPS) through the PO. I bought a carb for a garden tractor, and it arrived with all levers bent back against the body like it had been thrown against concrete. Offered a 15% refund and I demanded 50% after fixing everything on it. But, a good vendor would have immediately offered to ship a replacement (I sent photos of the damage).

I try hard to not keep a bunch of junk.
With the way projects come and go around here, things change constantly.
one day the shelves are clear, next day, covered in bike parts.

Come on Rat, those are "Beer" shelves, & you know how hard it is to keep those stocked.

Cool stuff. Makes me want to dig back into my Trail 90.

(How hard IS it to change a rear tube by yourself, I wonder?....)
1997 Valkyrie- Light Cutomization, but Too Busy Riding
1980 KZ1300- Bike's Haunted
1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- It Runs (Poorly) and Doesn't Leak (Mostly)
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking
1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor
1969 CT90- The Most Fun You Can Have on 90ccs.
1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.
