I'm still thinking that the garden sprinkler painting project needs an update. Pictures?
Goldwings don't accelerate, they gain inertia.

1978 GL1000 - almost stock - needs a head replaced, parts are ready to install!
1979 GL1000 - Winter project/parts bike - custom "Busted"
1983 GL1100 Standard- raised from the dead and back to organ donor status
And the newest acquisition, 1979 XS 650F to be a sidecar tug. crossy.gif

I’ve been working on some custom mounts for the twin headlight assembly, so far it’s been six hours of setup the five minutes to screw up the welding. The photos don’t make much sense yet but hopefully I can pull this one off ok...

The tubes will be split then held together with fancy hose clamps. The half rings are to stop the hose clamps from wondering around. One side of the split tubes will have a bracket welded to it. There are much easier ways to do this but that’s the way I roll...!

I can’t tell you how disappointed I am the the garden sprinkler turned out so well and the bike paint so bad... I guess it’s all part of the learning process... :)

Well the ‘wing’ keeps fighting me, I got the headlight fork clamps made without too much drama. And a Suzuki headlight grafted in place, mostly so I can test drive it. I swapped the bars and found the electrical switch on the LH side had a location button (tit) inside, I found it too late... and the clamp on the clutch pulled the threads. So did some salvaging to fix that. I dropped the clocks about an inch by mounting them under the tabs on the triple tree. I also had to drop the key switch by adding spacers under it by about 5/8”. Looks a bit better, in my eyes anyway. I still think the engine is rattly, I borrowed some synchronizing gauges but they don’t have the adaptors... not sure where to get some from. I’ve bled the brakes several times and they still feel spongy, I’m 99.9% sure there is no air in there. I put new braided hoses on and expected them to be solid, but alas something else is wrong. Next job will be smaller seat and small rear rack.

Maybe next time your there, perhaps you could take a look at that black Hondaline fairing for me, I'd pay good money if it's in the shape it looks like it is in the photo. Thanks.

I’ve decided the carbs need rebuilding, so a furious hour and a half at 0630 this morning saw them out before work. I hope there is something obvious in there...

Can’t say I’m looking forward to hooking up the throttle cables again either...!

Route the cables outside the frame and hook them up before bolting down the carbs. Makes things a lot easier.

I know some say to do it but it isn't a good idea to turn the intake manifolds like that on the carbs. There is a locating tab on the carb body and when you twist the manifolds like that it tears the rubber. Better to just remove the manifolds completely. They need to come off for a proper rebuild anyway. ;)
