1979 GL1000 impulse buy

#1

Post by Mr.Dids »

I'm just starting this build thread while I can remember where the pics are. lol

I will try to get into the details later.

Brief backstory is I bought it blown up off of FB Marketplace about three years ago. Coronavirus allowed me the time to tackle it this Winter and I now have something which is almost daily driven. It has been through several versions or iterations and seems to be ever evolving. Attached are pics of it torn down and the most current in it's evolution.

How about now?

Yes, it's now a different color. lol. Oh, the water is from the previous vehicle in this spot, not the bike.

Okay, so it changed a little again. lol

The stacks became ever slightly so much longer, changed the rear light and lost the mud flap (it may return), and added an angry duck hood (front fender) ornament and an air brake parking knob to the choke lever.

Ain't that the truth. You have definitely taken a page from the Japanese bosozoku style.

Bosozoku was a new one on me. Did a google search and found images of some really wild looking machines!

I had to look up bosozoku as well. My goal was just to do something different and based on the looks I get, I think that mission was accomplished. lol
