Hello from Nevada, I picked up an 80’ gl1100 about a year and a half ago, figured you guys might enjoy seeing the trash heap it’s become. But she’s a blast and only cost me $700 and a couple cans of spray paint and some other odds and ends to make some parts.

Anyone know where I actually can find some cheap pipes? I had some car exhaust tips on because the little turnouts looked better than no pipes, but the performance is so bad on this thing without proper pipes and I don’t have the know how to make her run well without anything. I lost the exhaust tips leaning a bit to far and they caught the road 😅

I run Emgo 26" dunstall replica mufflers on my '78, but I don't think they'd look right on your bike Sportster takeoffs are common; those or some shorties would match the looks of your bike pretty well and give you the back pressure you need to run well.

Not too sure about the 1100, but many moons ago I owned a 1000 with the Sportster mufflers, and they sounded NICE. A nice throaty burble without being obnoxious. If you can get a set, that's what I'd go with.
1997 Valkyrie- Light Cutomization, but Too Busy Riding
1980 KZ1300- Bike's Haunted
1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- It Runs (Poorly) and Doesn't Leak (Mostly)
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking
1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor
1969 CT90- The Most Fun You Can Have on 90ccs.
1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.

That’s looking like the plan right now, but wow do people want a lot on eBay.

I have bought a couple of pairs of sporty mufflers in the past couple of years off Ebay. Both pairs were 100bucks a set, but were like new as they were take offs when the owners decided on louder pipes for their Harleys. Maybe I paid a little too much but was very happy with their condition and sound. They often come up for less money. Takes a bit of fabrication to make mount adapters but if I can do it anyone can. Try to get pre 2003 sportster mufflers as they don't have a cross over pipe. Both my sets are 1997.
