Yep, exhaust looking just right, be nice to hear it when it's going too.

I'll probably live to regret the decision, but I've always wanted to try the mod and these things dont pay for themselves. The exhaust fabrication has proven to be very tedious. A lot of man hours for a few inches of pipe. I think I've got my angles just right now. I'll weld in the left side tomorrow after I install the '84 clutch cover and I can conclude my exhaust fab. "Do I stay or do I go now"? I submit that this is a question we all face when dealing with these vintage bikes. I have an '85 LTD FI Goldwing that has more money and time invested in it such that I could have bought a new/newer bike. I use this one as my retirement project, tour solo and two up, and expand my knowledge of older bikes and the FI system along the way. Is it going anywhere soon, no - later, no as well. Picking up the parts and info so that I can rebuild the engine - never rebuilt a motorcycle engine before - engine has some 160,000 Kms on it. The work and experience with the '85 is helping me understand newer FI bikes - have a 2012 DL1000 V-Strom and it is fuel injected as well. Looking into an ECU replacement because nothing lasts forever. No aftermarket equivalent, Honda integrated the ECU, travel computer and dash and I want to keep this functionality. You've had the bike for a while, the satisfaction you are going to get from accomplishing the various mods is priceless, and you get bragging rights when you're out and about with the locals. You're right that these things do not pay for themselves. I'm on a fixed pension, but I've spent more money on less before. Good luck. Look forward to your project coming to fruition. Cheers

I got my cafe seat straight from Vietnam and boy is she sweet. Now that the seat is on, I got a chance to reshape the rear fender. I removed a bit of metal from the fender and shortened the mounting ears by about 2". I'm happy with the outcome. Now I just need to pick up some mounting hardware.

Well it's been a busy summer but I'm making steady progress. The motor is out ready for strip & repaint.

11 spoke wheels have been stripped of rubber, scrubbed and scrubbed some more. Diesel, simple green and mineral spirits shined 'em up good. Plenty of more wet sanding/spit shining needed.

False tank and fenders stripped, ready for repaint. Also, I'm resurfacing the rear rotor. Let's go!

Well, it's been a while since my last post but I've been making steady progress. This baby is almost done. Rotors are done, wheels are done, forks painted and ready for swap, clutch hydraulics are in and I'm on to body work and lots and lots of sanding...I got myself a little powder coat oven and have set up a little motorcycle bake shop. It's my first time working with powdered paint so I've got a bit of orange peel to battle with. Wet sanding and polish smooth it right out though. Next is false tank, side covers and fenders to prep for 2 stage paint.

If they are cell phone pictures just edit them in any way. I just rotate mine 1 degree.
