Hey y'all,
I am still experiencing the clutch issues and after performing the free-play adjustment too many times, by the book and "fudging" the adjuster screw both ways, I have put this situation on the back burner for now. Maybe, she just needs exercise.
I've turned my focus onto the charging situation.
I've purchased a Shindengen FH020AA kit:
It's a little larger than the stock rectifier, so, i intend to mount it under the left side shelter. With the RLU by-passed/removed and the stock regulator removed, including their connectors, it should fit...should. It is my understanding (conjecture is more accurate) that the wires leading to the existing regulator and the existing rectifier, can be insulated and safely abandoned. Does that sound right?
Some pics:
The black wire from the Prestolite Ignition taps the black wire at the regulator connector.
Existing rectifier and stator wire shown here:
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Mistakes may have been made. I won't know until I'm finished making them.

It might look something like this mock-up:
I would like to remove all the un-used connectors. Are there "caps" or a method to insulate individual wire dead ends? Eager to show you the mock-up, I haven't researched.

I hereby declare this project complete; not that She doesn't need some tweaks. I put 80 miles on her this morning and the clutch creep has vanished. I even managed to find neutral when I got home .
The reg/rec I installed works great but barely fits. Here's a pic:
It has been said that there are no stupid questions; I believe I have proven that incorrect.
I am grateful to all who share on this forum. I couldn't have done it without all y'all.
Now, to go take some glamour pics

Fantastic! Hard work resulting in a significant accomplishment. BTW, Southport and OINC both have some great backgrounds for those glamour shots.

Every time I get a little discouraged with Janis, I look at how far you've come with Donna. Hopefully Janis comes out as sweet.
