Help pricing my Dad’s 99 Wing SE

#1

Post by wingrider »

Hello all,

I am needing to sell my Dad’s 99 SE, as he recently passed away. It has about 33,xxx miles on it, black, and in great shape. I am having a hard time figuring out what to ask for it. I see prices all over the map, and blue book seems to be the same.

Could anyone give me some advice?

Thanks for any help.

One thing I've done for car values in the past is contacted my bank. They will typically give you a 'loan value' that reflects the market.
That said, I think the market for Wings is fairly soft for anything not an 1800. I just bought an '86 1200 Aspy, 36k, needs nothing, for $2000, which is right in the middle of the going range for them in my area.

Could very well be…if they happen to go by blue book, it would be interesting to know which one, as one can be $3500, while another is $6900.

If you recall, I posted about comparison shopping, and IMhO 1500's are typically going for around $5000, considerably less with higher mileage. I followed several 1500's in the $2500-3500 range for weeks on marketplace (50k-100k miles) that didn't sell, as far as I know. Lower mileage but higher priced bikes sold better.

When I sell a bike I use NADA. I will post it for the NADA retail price and put best offer. Unless it’s a mint bike retail usually won’t be obtained.

Quick off cuff guess. 3500 now 4500 next June. I always lose money on my motorcycle sales. So there’s that.
