OEM spec hardware source

Post by kabinenroller »

Does anyone have a source for nuts, bolts, and screws that are the same as OEM GL1000? I am specifically looking for M8x1.25 hex nuts, they must have a 14mm hex as the original not the more common 13mm hex found on today’s nuts.
Thanks!!

https://www.cmsnl.com is my usual go-to. True, they don't have everything, and you have to deal with overseas shipping, AND there may be "local" alternatives (partzilla, etc.), but I've been very happy with them for my last couple orders, and they always seem to have quite a few things many other places don't
1997 Valkyrie- Light Cutomization, but Too Busy Riding
1969 CT90- Melted Wrist Pin Circlips. Somehow.
1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- In Many Pieces Scattered Around the Garage
1980 KZ1300- Deciphering Carb Tuning Mysteries
1972 CB750 Barn Find- Sidecovers Away At Painter
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.

You want bolts with 12/14mm heads like what came on these bikes, you have to get Japanese OEM. Those are JIS. Honda changed from 14mm heads to 12mm somewhere in the 70's, I think. The hardware-store metric bolts with 13 or 15 or 16mm heads are ISO, which is the standard used in America and Europe.
Many Honda bolts, if they're not specific to a certain usage, are available from any Honda dealer. It doesn't necessarily have to be CMSNL. If the online parts fiche shows them with a price, they're available.
