Cerakote

Post by GL1-242 »

Hey All,
The gun shop just move next door to my work. He was all excited his new paint booth is here tomorrow. I asked is it for powder coating he said no Cerakote. He has a WRX and has done parts on it like exhaust manifolds and few other auto parts. So looks like I'm going to have some parts done over the winter.

CERAKOTE is a great product. Any parts that you are going to just refurbish to original, CERAKOTE MC5100 is a good protectant. Used this primarily for the engine cases and such because it adhered to the vapour blasted surface. Surmised that if it could be used on a vapour blasted part, other painted surfaces would benefit as well.

Used it during my engine rebuild and painting of my '85 Limited Edition on the engine cases/covers, engine attachments, wheel rims, swing arm, heads, timing covers, valve covers, and a whole lot more. Used this because it is for all aluminum finishes such as vapour blasting, brushed and the likes. Has worked very well, easy to clean - damp rag and you are done. Only downside is that once applied, nothing sticks to it. Used it on the underside of the fenders and rear of the bike where crud tends to accumulate, same cleaning procedure. No affiliation, just like the product and the results.

Yes.
I've been using gun kote for 15 years or so and really like it but I use the finish that you need to bake.
I may have to try the air cure stuff.
