Hey there, Chuck!
I was watching an episode of Phantom Works this early morning and one of the cars they took on to repair was a 1963 Studebaker Hawk. Ding!
Hmmm as I recall a fellow in the Club... pictures 📸

How's your 1954 Commander coming along? ;)

The engines in the picture are from Packard. Red one is a 352 that came standard in the 1956 Golden Hawk and the engine to the right is a 374 packard crate engine that was ran in a car for about 5000 miles. My end goal is for it to be packard powered and a t85 3 speed manual trans but currently there is a good running 289 Studebaker engine sitting in the chassis.

No problem, as soon as these high temps breaks (making it enjoyable in the garage) I am going to start working on her again. October/Novemberish. Headed to PA in a few weeks to pull parts from a car a friend of mine has. should be a good time

Changed the oil and Installed the carbs today. Proud to say she started right up once the fuel was primed. Smoked a lot but kinda expected that, was sitting for a long time. Smoke settled as it ran and once it was warm it had almost gone away. Once I put a few miles on her I think the rings will find their home and everything will be hunky dory

wOW Chuck!
Robin did a Great Job on those carburetors. :-D
The engine's response to quick throttle opening and consistently predictable return to idle is exactly what everyone should be shooting for when they Correctly and Completely refurbish their bike's carburetors "rack", too.

Idle sounds a little low. But maybe it isn't up to temp yet. ;)

I could be swayed to go out to the garage and listen to that beauty again. At the time of making that video it was mid way to warmed up.

Sure enough, when warm (when the fan kicked on) she was only idling at 5-600. Bumped her up to 900 and sounds much better. Much much smoother and less clunking

Good ear Robin
