Many people are happy using automotive spin on filters on GoldWings, CX bikes and others.
My bikes are special cases; I might eventually consider an adapter for Mr.H but I'd need to be absolutely sure I could fit it between the frame cross member below the rad and the sidecar subframe (I shaved a little off the rim of the filter housing and I still have to orient it just so). And for Eccles I just feel that I'd rather have the filter armoured for winter use.

Re: filter adapters
A warning that years ago, I had a gift certificate from one of the CB supply houses. Had all of the CB things that I needed, but saw a chrome spin-on filter that was supposed to fit CB750 or GL1000. Made the mistake of getting one and lucked out that it blew off in the driveway while loading the Hunley to take to a distant show. Made a heck of a mess, but at least no wreck or engine damage.

Re: filter adapters
Those chrome spin-ons are awful. I had the same thing happen to me. I have auto filter adapters on both my Wings and I'm very happy with them.
