What is this part?

#1

Post by CL_Rider »

Does anyone know what this part comes from off of a 1979 GL1000? I am working on resurrecting one that hasn't run in a while and after pulling the carbs (for the second time) I found this on the garage floor. It appears to be a bushing of some kind?

I'm also rebuilt the brakes and replaced the throttle cables so it could be related to any of those subsystems.

Can anyone lend a hand?

Looks like a hinge bushing/spacer for one of the "gas tank" side shelters.
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.

Usually removed when putting on a Vetter fairing, and then lost. Randakk reproduced them because Honda no longer supplied them. but they were pretty expensive, for a set of 8.

I don't think I've ever lost a 10mm wrench but I did nearly run out of 1/2" wrenches at one time. It turned out neighbourhood kids that my son was selling bicycle parts to were stealing them.

I probably have 8-10 each of 10mm sockets & wrench’s , what totally drives me crazy is that I am just anal about putting things away in their proper place, enough so that my wife & kids laugh about it & make fun,,no one but me has access to my shop because years ago my one brother would come when he knew I wasn’t home and restock his toolbox, it was a tense time because he took advantage of my daughters affection for him.

But now only access is through me and we’ve since moved to a more remote area, still have trouble finding anything 10mm ,, don’t know why but it has to be something I’m doing ! I’ve even made a crusade to Harbor Freight for a bag of wrench’s and sockets in 10mm. Just ridiculous !
