Nice bike and congrats.

But seriously...
2017 ?
Man, you guys had to go waaay back to find a bike worthy of being the BOTM.

Lucien,
Do you still have this bike?
Are you still riding it?
I know I would be.

Oh hey! What a fun little walk down memory lane! Thank you so much.

That 1200 Standard was a great little bike. Crashed it into a ditch, and while I rebuilt it cosmetically, I never did a thing to the carbs or engine, and she never gave me any problems. Unfortunately, I sold it about three or four years ago now. A guy in Galveston Texas bought it and had it shipped down there. Although he never had me send the title, oddly enough. So technically, I guess I still own it.

I hated to see it go, but on the flip side, I used the money for it to grab my Valkyrie, which, apart from gas mileage, is arguably a better bike in every way. Still, if I had a bit more garage space, I might still have it. Or snag another one. Who knows? :-D

Fun fact- I bought it with the 1200 hard bags, and lucked into a rear fender about halfway through owning it. Had it for... 7-8 years? Kept an eye out for a rear grab rail the whole time.

Never found one.

My buddy found an accidented (no Tupperware) 84 Aspencade barn find. He got it
running.
Later I found a guy who was lusting after a Harley who dumped his mint 84 Standard
for $1100 US. (OK it needed rings)

My friend swapped out his engine and voila, a beautiful Standard that ran great,
(right off into a farmer's field out of a curve, first ride out)

Bent the frame, and all of those impossible to find Standard parts scrapped.
