My wife was right again-A CB750 K0

In 1974, I had an early Sandcast CB750. I really did not know what I had at the time. Paid $500.00 for it and rode it hard for about 7 years. I think it had about 60,000 miles on it when I sold it for $1000.00. I have always wished I had a K0 again, but they are so hard to find these days. I finally gave up on the notion and sold my 750 parts. I actually told my wife I was done with major projects and she didn't believe me. Well, she was right, again. I was looking at Craigslist and saw a 1970 CB750 K0 and it sparked my interest. The bike looked pretty complete, but in poor condition. The seller was asking $5,000.00 for it but quickly came down to $4000.00 after a few days. I decided to contact the seller and get more details. Today, I will and will pay $3,500.00 for it. That is a lot of money for a motorcycle in poor condition, but I am actually happy to pay that amount since these are so hard to find. It looks like the engine was rebuilt about 13000 miles ago, but I have no details on what was done to it. The seller purchased a new seat for it. This bike has a very interesting history that I will share later.

I was really debating on whether to buy it and almost didn't, but my wonderful wife actually told me to buy it. She said it would be my birthday and Christmas present for the rest of my life.

Yeah, that's a lot of money.
But if it makes you happy and doesn't piss off the wife... Awesome!

I understand your affinity for these bikes as I have owned more SOHC CB's than any other motorcycle.

Do one of your nice restorations on it and I'm sure that if you ever decide to sell, it will bring a premium on BAT or
at the Mecum auction.

P.S: It always concerns me when someone says the engine was "rebuilt".

I picked it up and it will need a head gasket and new o-rings as it has some leaks. It runs, but very poorly. I just ordered a set of pipes and complete body parts from Yamiya. The body parts were in bad shape. I think this will be worth it after I get it done. Several of the exhaust pipes were not too bad so I might be able to sell them. One was a 341 version and one of the 300s have a crack, but not too bad.

Good man Cedric. Always listen to your wife. Especially when it comes to buying bikes. In my view that is not a lot of money for a K0. I learned something too, never heard of Yamiya. Interesting site.

Liam, I agree. Glad I mentioned Yamiya because this guy is a master craftsman in my opinion. His products are top quality.

It cost a total of about 3400.00 for the pipes and body parts but that included 550.00 for shipping. It's only money

They usually go fast, so don't delay. The price is much better directly from him. I think it was about $1300.00 before the shipping fee.

Me too , and unfortunately, a clueless "mechanic" must have done this one. This motorcycle is in really bad shape and it was poorly maintained. The engine will have to be completely rebuilt as it had metal in the oil pan. The camshaft risers on a CB750 has id marks to eliminate the possibility of mixing up matched pairs, but he still got them all mixed up. That should tell you all you need to know .

Great looking bike you have. You can't go wrong with a K0 and they just keep going up in value.

I'm actually parking my cb750's after riding them for 14 years and switching to gl1000 as a daily rider. We'll see how it goes.

So far, I have the engine and carbs rebuilt and tested. I have also painted all the black parts but haven't posted any pictures yet. Gauges are done and some other things too.

Here are some pictures of the completed 1970 CB750 K0 project. The bike runs like new, maybe better, as I added higher compression Cycle-X pistons to the engine. Cycle-X did the machine work on the head and cylinders. I also replaced the primary chains, cam chain, chain tensioners, cush drive, valves, valve guides, cylinder studs and some other misc parts. I used high quality Cycle-X gaskets including a MLS head gasket and have no leaks.
