GL1100 level tube (coolant reservoir fill)

#1

Post by jml74 »

My coolant reservoir is leaking where the fill tube goes into the top of the bottle. Honda calls it a level tube, for the GL1100 it's P/N 19205-MF5-010 and 19205-MF5-000, both of which are discontinued. Does anybody know if the level tube from other models will fit (I'm hoping they all use the same seal and it's just the length that's different)? I can't find any at a dealer and only found one on eBay that matched either of those P/Ns, but they're asking $26 for it. CMSNL claims to have them, but the shipping makes it comparable to the eBay option.

This part from a 1500 looks similar and might work.

I had a leak there as well and ended up fabricating my own with a rubber bushing and some plastic tubing.

Thanks. If it comes to it I may try to fabricate something like you said, but for $10 I'd be willing to just buy a new one. $30? Not so much. After closer inspection the grommet part on mine looks to be in good shape, it's just the smaller piece above holding the J-tube that has split in multiple places. I wrapped some Teflon tape around the connector and cinched everything down with a zip tie instead of the spring clamp, so maybe that will hold it for a while.
