No rejetting required and these are the non crossover mufflers. Three years later and I've hardly had to touch it as far as maintenance other than the routine stuff.

Whoever is responsible for bringing this thread back to life is going on my list.

I hate that bike. And now it has perfectly matching leather parts fore and aft.

BUT LOOK AT THIS CORRODED ENGINE MOUNT
IMG_0006_resize.JPG
AND THESE HORRIBLE STONE CHIPS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CALIPER

It only took me about 20 minutes to find those faults. And there were more too, but my camera wouldn't zoom in close enough.
If we were voting, I might give it a mercy vote but only cuz the guy rides the snot out of it. Somebody should have pity on the poor sucker and am I not well known for my big heart?

Dean, that hurt. It really hurt. I came in the house to get away from it and you throw it back at me.

I am making progress on the BAT_PODD ("Bad Acid Trip - Piece of Doo-doo") and when I'm done, I'll not only be a hack mechanic, but a wood butcher too.
I'm widening my skill set.

Holy crap Greg, if you ever get near my bike, just remember the only tools I am skilled with is a hammer and a hacksaw. And I need some lessons with the hacksaw.

Hi Dean
I know this is an old thread but I really like the look of the bagger style and the terrific job you guys did on this bike. I have stripped my 83 Aspencade but kept the bags and saddlebag stays and would really like to be able to remount the bags for longer trips. Just wondering how you redid? the trunk rack so that you were able to use the saddlebag mounting system without the trunk rack? Did you just cut off what you didn't need and then powdercoat the rack? Hope you're still on this site. If not maybe someone elsa has a suggestion

Although Dean sold his bike, he still checks in here so I'm sure he'll be able to help you out. Keep checking back.

Thanks for the complements on the build. I mounted both the bag and trunk racks and cut the trunk rack leaving only a quarter inch or so of the trunk support, just enough to get past the curve and leave a round hole. That way the saddle bags had full support. After I powder coated the racks I plugged the holes in what was left of the trunk support with a plastic plug I got from the specialty hardware section at Lowes. If I knew how to weld or knew someone who was willing to work on it cheap I would have cut the trunk support flush and filled the hole with metal, ground it smooth so no weld was evident then powder coated it. That would have been a cleaner look.

Hey Dean thanks a lot for the info. Was thinking I would have to do something like that to make sure the top rear of the bag would be supported. 99% of the time my bike will be "bagless" but if I decide to take her on a longer road trip it would be really nice to slip the hardbags on for weather etc.I would also have to reinstall the bag stays as right now I am just running a rear grab rail Your bike really caught my eye and I didn't want to go the whole trunk thing.

I know this is old post but your 1100 turned out so nice! Considering the first picture, it’s amazing. An the whitewalls look great. Curious how many miles you have ridden since reconstruction?

Hmmm, trying to remember. I downsized the motorcycle herd a couple years ago and sold this bike in the process. I rode it quite a bit. I would guess I put 8-10k miles on it. I'm thinking I wore out the rear tire on it and had to replace it before I sold it. It was dead reliable so going through the whole bike right off the bat paid off.
