Did you paint the carbs?

I was also curious about the carbs. They look very nice and such an even color they almost have to be coated

Matte holds dirt easier. A good clear-coated gloss sheds dirt faster. Black is the fastest color - to show dirt.

The carbs and heads are coated in VHT Cast Iron. It's a nice rich look that contrasts the aluminum block nicely.
Planning on something similar for the brake calipers

Once I get the ignition shored up, and the tank cleaned out I can finally try to start her up.
Then on to the fun stuff (cosmetics) once that is proven.
Gotta tackle the brakes also - and based on what I’ve done with them so far that’s gonna be..uh....fun...

Hey sphen, you and I seem to be at about the same stage in our rebuilds. I would like to get mine ready for next spring, that would only be a plus, I'm in no hurry. Just like you said, incremental progress is all that can be expected.

Small update - coils tested, new spark wires and boots, and rectifier unit. Cleaned and recoated the gas tank. Decided to put the swingarm, fork and tires back on to make it easier to move around. At some point will have to do fork/brake/tires/etc., but after I finish electrical setup enough to test fire..

sphen,
The VHT looks good! I use two of the copper colors and had wondered how the Cast Iron would look. I see it is very nice!

yes thats my favourite colour so far - i did the block and other things in the aluminum colour, but the cast iron has a rich sophisticated look to it!
