I have learned something from you. I did not know what make those pipes are. They sure are mean sounding.
They are great for fault finding. When the engine got up to operating temp there was an occasional popping from the right side.
So easy to figure out which one, just put your hand in front of the outlet and feel which one is popping and simply trace it back to the offending cylinder.
Turned out to be the middle cylinder. Plug had good spark, and was not totally black or wet, so I did a quick compression check and the reading was only 80PSI.
Knowing that the shop had been working on the head I took off the rocker cover and on checking there was no clearance on the exhaust tappet.
Loosened it off a bit 'til I had some clearance and compression came up to 130. Rocker cover back on, Spark plug back in, and she started up and ran smooth.
No popping. Will have to delve deeper though and do a proper compression check while the engine is cold.
She is a dream to work on everything is 'just there'.

As folks might recall, I have a special fondness for the bumblebees. By the way, they only came in standard trim. I added the tourer trim to mine. The only way I would ever sell this motorcycle is if I could no longer hold it up. Hopefully that won’t be for a while.

Yes, I can see a love affair forming. It is a heavy beast. Leans over quite a bit onto the side stand.
My friend Benny who was with me is a very experienced rider, is now in his early 70's did not have the stature or physical strength to manage to take it for a test run.
He has several heavy machines like a GL1800 and a 103 Harley Road King but could not physically manage the Valk.

Glad you were able to discover which cylinder was giving grief...might not hurt to hit all the valves to be sure they are in spec.

They are a fun bike!

You won't be disappointed Liam. I've always liked the way the Valyrie looked, so when DesertRefugee and I met up for a ride and he was on his Valkyrie, I decided it was time to sell my ZZR and buy a Valk. Milage is not the greatest at 32-34 mpg but I can live with that.

I have found turning the handlebars to the right when pulling it off the center stand makes it easier to pop up.

The two-tone touring models are, IMHO, the most beautiful machines ever to roll out of a factory. Not my riding style, or I would have one.

One thing I have learned about this beast, is that parts are very difficult to find.
I am not in a huge rush, mind you, it will be sometime next year before I get stuck into it.
I have managed to source some bits, the first was an OEM rocker cover in chrome finish. The previous owner had put a set of 1500 covers on it.
Some time ago I found a complete OEM exhaust system on Ebay in the UK so I bought that.

I have been looking for engine bars for months. All I could find were examples with crash damage, and a lot of money being asked.
I found these, aftermarket but the same styling as OEM, but they are much stronger. Well finished too with nice welding.

That exhaust probably cost as much as the bike! Nice score!!!
