Good Day Gents;
We went to Barrie, Ont (north of Toronto) and 'did the deed'. An '03 ST1300, lull load, Garmen Nuvi nav system, Sargent seat, electronic cruise control, ABS etc. The only thing is that I have to wait three + months before I can ride it. My friend Ian and I drove down and picked it up. As you can see it it needs a good washing after the trip home. We took the bags and windscreen off to make it easier to trailer.

That thing will melt traffic like a hot knife through butter.
I've ridden my brother's ST13 quite a lot and have my own FJR (which is very similar). With stock exhaust they are deceptively quiet and shockingly fast at the same time. I regularly find myself at 90 mph when I think I'm at 65.
Be super OCD about locking those bags down correctly. I lost one on the I-5 in southern CA and it was close to $500 to replace.
I would not muck with the linked brakes. They are a lot more sophisticated that the early GL linked brakes and perform quite well. Unless you do a lot of scrambling, and in that case, you probably picked the wrong steed.
I think it's a perfect northern latitude pavement machine. The extra cockpit heat will serve you well.

Congrats on your ST1300 purchase. Hopefully you can attend some of our RTE's in New York and PA. Watch for the notices at ST-owners.com

Congratulations. Second on pannier lockdown. I lost a bag at 30mph. Scratched the heck out of it the second day I had my st 1300. They are a bit tricky to get the hang of

Gents;
Thanks for the advice, I'll check the bag locking mechanism. So many things to learn, so much more technology.
As far as road runs go, we have to wait for the Canadian / US border open.

Gents;
I am rapidly learing to hate bodywork. I am upgrading the lights to LED, so the drill goes, change the head lights, remove the upper fairing. Change the tail lights, remove the rear fairing. UGH ! Oh well 'tis technology.
I joined the ST owners forum, nowwhere near as friendly as we are.

There are guys who can reach up behind the front fairing and change the headlight bulb !

Gents;
I managed to wiggle my paws up behind the headlights and get the bulbs out. I have purchased two LED kits, one with two sided bulbs and one with six sided bulbs. Here they are, the two sided bulb is on the LH side of the picture (rider's right side) and the six sided bulb is on the right side (rider's left side). What do you think? I have not checked for spread and distance, I'll give that a try in a day or two. If brightness is a clue we can see that there is no contest, but for the moment I'll call it a draw. So far I like the six sided LED.

I would agree, how does it look sitting on it, and shining down “the road”?

Hey Gents;
I have not been able to get an 'over the road' report because this never ending winter wil not quit. So, I wait.
I will try to turn the bike around so that it points down the driveway and see what I can see.

Gents;
I turned the bike around today and once the sun went down, I took a few pictures. Things are now reversed with the six LED on the left and the two LED on the right, I think that I will stick with the six LED for the time being. And I took a picture of my LED tail lights as well.
