Progressive springs...will help greatly for the price...as stated.
Same goes for fuel pump.
On your cross-shaft thought...use the idea from a bell-crank type shaft for a Chevy clutch stick, shift set-up.

Good to see some of your issues being resolved!!
Mmm, you asked about the bell crank shaft for a Chevy. IF you have a typical motor repair manual...look in the early Chevy clutch section. You'll see exploded views of the bell crank shaft and all the stuff from the attachment point of the frame across to the throw out bearing for the clutch. You'll see that there are two tabs attached at 2 different points on the shaft. These are where the linkages are placed to work the clutch arm from the foot pedal in the car. Kinda hard to explain...but get a peek at the set-up from a motor manual.
