I drove into Norfolk a couple hours ago from the Buffalo area. I unloaded my stuff from the truck but that was about all I could manage, stupid hot out there. Currently 96 with a index of 109.
Need to mow but not till this heat breaks.

Just in from a couple of hours in the garden. The thermometer says it's only 25cbit it felt a lot higher than that in the sun.

4 out of control forest fires within 40 mile of here.
The closest is 12 miles away.

Super smokey, hot and dry.

Praying it gets no closer. Wow, that takes all your attention.

The concern around these parts is obviously for the safety of the firefighters.

I was working my route through Colorado and it came up with a warning that the south rim fire may be an issue while west bound on 50.

No fires particularly close to here but the sky is pretty hazy from the smoke

84 degrees at 7:20 this morning. Luckily other than walking the Beasts I have no chores outside today. Calling for even odds on some late afternoon Thunderstorms, that would be good as we are quite dry right now

It's "only" 28c here right now but the forecast says 33 for the next couple of days with a heat warning.
We went to see friends play with their pipe & drum band yesterday and drove through driving rain in a few places on the way back but it was still dry when we got home and our rain gauges say only 1mm fell in the last day.

We've only had 12mm of rain in the last 5 weeks. In the same period last year we had 130mm. If this isn't a drought it's pretty close.

We are experiencing the second flash flooding event in our area over the last two weeks. 3-5 inches just north of here in two hours. Just a bit of hail so far. Thunder is constant. But it did drop the temps from 90+ to 60 over the last hour. We live on gravel, and the road is already soft. I guess I better take the 4wd tomorrow
