This is the end result of 2.5 years trying out diferent styles / parts.

I am happy with it.

Next is tweaking, fiddling, tinkering and finish things like decals.

I have been comuting the last 4 days, in total 300 kilometers.

It perform pretty well.

Below the things i want/ need to adres soon (hopefully this weekend):

1) off idle hesitation and refs hanging -> replace airfilter, re-check mixture screws, re-sync.
(valve lash is correct, carbs have been stripped and ultra sonic cleaned, jets are clean, float height is correct, fresh gas, new gas filter, gas tank flushed prior to first start)
2) set up suspension

I have a 4 day tour coming up in may, starts on thursday 14may (Ascension day in the Netherlands) and return on sunday 17may.

Exceptional work, very nice looking bike. No, it doesn't look like a GoldWing anymore but speaking from experience, 4 or 5 hundred miles in one day and you might wish it still looked like one.

I've been telling sunnbobb that I want to build a sport bike. Nice job and write up. I keep looking for that dirt cheap donor sporty.

Wog and Jimmyz--just a note about similar tanks for the sportbike look--I have an 85 Honda 500 Interceptor and I have been playing around with the gas tank just to see how close it would be to fitting the GL frame, and I believe it would be an easy adaptation, either used as an actual tank or modified as a shelter.

Not to highjack the thread, but if you are looking for a good cheap sport bike, you may want to take a look at the GL650 listed on this site up for auction. Stuff on this site goes cheap. My dad bought a $5000 scooter for less than 2k from here... GL650 crankyape.com

I'm sure this bike is going to go for very little. Look at what some of the previous bikes went for at the lower part of the page and you will see how low things tend to sell for on this site. I have no connection to the crankyape site. I just know stuff goes real cheap there.

And.. i just discovered i set my idle mixture screw wrong
Turns out (no pun intended) there a different settings for the 80/ 81 and the 82/83 versions
Just set them to the correct settings 1 1/4.

Also set my forks to the basic setting (suzuki B-King)

Let's see if thats helps

Its a guess but my money is on mickey thompson as the vc manufacturer.
Would be nice to know for sure though.
