THANKS!...I COULDN'T BUY THE 1978... I'VE ALREADY START TO FIX MY 1977... I CAN'T FIND 16" RIMS FOR MY BIKE SO I TOUGHT THAT I'M GOING TO KEEP THE REAR 17" AND ADD A REAR 17" RIM AT THE FRONT...WHAT'S YOUR OPINION ON THIS MATTER?

and I've been abroad for a while.
I'll post a few pics of the mountings when I put
the seat back on, in a couple of days.

Hi SS; donno really; IF your looking for that low
aggressive 'stance'; the smaller rims are a good idea.
I'm sure you can find them. There must be lots of places to get
16" rims.
Maybe someone here can point
you in the right direction, (Harley D. rims maybe?!)
as I don't know any vendors i US.

Besides that; just do what you feel like doing

It's all very simple. Crude actually.
But it works; tested it by letting my 240 pound plus
friend Allan sit on it.


Seat (Triumph Speed Triple) shortened
and some of the seat-pan cut out





Crude small L-shaped brackets bolted on to seat-pan




Drilled holes in the fender




...attached bolts up through fender to existing
thread in seat




Nuts on each side of fender to adjust position
so seat 'hovers over fender




The seat-brackets attach to existing frame-brackets:
(Here the seat is shown with that nice new cover
that this nice old upholstery-chap made for me)

here's a lead on 16 inch rims for your bike. the gl1100's all had 17" rear and 19" front rims until '83 when about a third of the production mrodels came with a 16"rear and 18" front.
then from '84 to '88 the gl1200's all had a 16"front and 14" rear. so if you can hunt down a 16" rear from an '83 (kinda hard to find. i'm watching one on ebay right now. pretty please don't steal it form me) and a 16" front from a 1200 you're all set.

the only real difference in the style of the rims is that the '83 is an 11 spoke and the '84 on up are 9 spoke. not too noticeable with the brake disc and calipers and whatnot going on around the rims.

as far as i know they're interchangeable with the gl1000's but you should double check with a local honda mechanic.

The rims do not interchange easily. Better think again about swapping 1100 or 1200 rims onto a 1000.

You've definitely given me some inspiration for my gl1000. I'm really liking the seat as well. Dropping a couple of lbs off the total weight of the bike and getting something that'll be simpler and cleaner looking then my current wing is my goal. You've helped me get a picture of what I'm going to go for.

Also, man I wish I had found this site earlier...soooo awesome.

Can i copy your Denmark bike color and striping over here In Florida.. It is So Extreme Awesum.. I love Black and yellow together.. I had a Suzuki Intruder with a Yellow frame and Black Body parts.. I liked it a lot ! I will go naked for a while. Engine on jack heads off and it's riding season. Oh that is 12 months.. Really would like the scheme but maybe call it the Super Bee.

Been trying to find a waterproof switch for my fan, it was wired by original owner to stay on, I'd like to put a good heavy duty one on mine, what kind did you use, and can you send me pic's on how you wired it pls!

The best switch for your fan is the OEM one from Honda.

Bypassing with a manual switch is not a recommended fix.

You say that you bought some Tomaselli adjustable handlebars, but what you've got on your Bulldog Bobber looks much straighter than the picture of the bars you provided.
What are the straighter looking drag bars that you've got on your Bobber?

Also, have you thought about integrating the cables into the handlebars and hiding them away to get a sleeker look to the front of the bike?
