1976 leave as is, restore, resto-mod, or full custom.
Looking at buying my first Goldwing. A buddy has one, across the country, that I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy.
It was a barn find and is complete. I suspect I could polish it up, do the carbs and belts etc. And run it as a true survivor. Obviously the decision might be made for me if it gets here and some stuff just absolutely had to be changed but I'm thinking I could do anything I want with it.
What say you?

Looks rehabitable.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

I would say, unless you want to make it your own and change it up, get it back into riding shape, a leave it alone.

Restore. It looks original and complete. Refresh each system and replace all rubber. Clean it as you refresh it. Good luck to you!

Nice. I know pictures can be deceiving, but if she looks as good in person, I would do a clean up and ride. So. it's across the country. What are the pick-up plans and date or do you plan on having her shipped? Is she running? And if I may be so nosy, what was the asking price for her? Ballpark it.
Best of luck and congrats on such a pretty find.

Restore the old girl.
Bring it back to OEM or as close as possible.

Change the belts, clean and ride. All you mention are options, but the option to save the patina can only happen now, harder to do that after a full restore. Certain consider saving the paint, as one you repaint, well, it is repainted.

If I hadn't just walked past mine..I would have sworn you stole it.
I'm going to clean mine and ride it for this season then do some mods to it this coming winter..nothing that I can't undo and restore to factory though. Well except for the paint..I'm on the fence between leaving it like it is..or painting it.

Re: 1976 leave as is, restore, resto-mod, or full custom.
My thoughts on my 5 1975 gl's is that at this point in time there are only so many left as they were sold. So many have been trashed or customized already. I think I'm preserving a small part of motorcycle history in my own way. (Although I'm bobbing a 77 for my son.) if it were a little rougher I would customize it it. But I think you should keep her stock with the stock paint and ride around to show her To as many people as you can!!!
