Re: My Wing
Yeah. The issue is usually shipping and import fees between USA and the EU. The gold wing sold many more units in the states compared to Europe I guess.
Any idea what the shipping is between you and me?

Re: My Wing
Couldn't keep myself away from the garage.
Installed the new headlight with the new light holder. And of course the new seat Will try to get a hold of the original rear fender, saw a guy that got a real good looking setup with that. I think it will be hard to use the license plate as the only fender.
I also tried a other way of mounting the ignition modules using bolt holes that are not currently in use

Re: My Wing
I can certainly check. I have shipped things to Sweden before, and it wasn’t that bad. Shoot me your address, and I can find out for you.
Merry Christmas as well!

Re: My Wing
Sent a request on the Swedish GoldWing club on facebook and there's an old guy there that had original footpegs.
He has a lot of Gl1000-1500 stuff so I might have to swing by and buy some more stuff later hehe.

Re: My Wing
Good deal. Hopefully you can get them cheaper than the shipping was from here.

Re: My Wing
Wiring is fun!
All wire locations are temporary, gonna look a whole lot better when it is sleeved and routed properly.
Have a bunch more stuff to wire before I'm ready for the sleeving Put a switch for battery on inside the faux tank. I need to join two or more wires, what's a good solution for that?
In the past I would have just soldered three wires together but I feel this bike deserves more

Re: My Wing
The going is slow but at least the going is going
All cabling related to the ignition is done(except for the spark plug cables), even sleeved most of it. Just need to fabricate some sort of terminal block to join some cables together.
Unfortunately I forgot to snap a pic.
Found that both cables to the thermoswitch for the radiator fan were broken off, I wonder how many years it has been like that.
It was a PITA to remove and in particular reattach the rubber boot on the switch itself, had to apply both elbow grease and some real grease before it popped on.
I decided to run entirely new cables all the way upp to the connector under the ignition coils, note the old cables snipped just below the new ones. Going to remove them next time I'm at the garage.
Man the camera does pick up dirt

Re: My Wing
It will be a nice piece of mind to have a functioning thermostat once again. Glad you took the time to resolve that.

Re: My Wing
Been having a kind of a water situation for the last couple of weeks/months, but nothing my old trusty Nissan Patrol can't handle:

Got the old gal to flirt It shows that some of my wiring is indeed working. And no, the busbar on top of the cylinder was not live. The busbar is a part of the ignition system, for joining all the positive wires. The front indicators are really cheap ones but they look nice. Headlight and instrument cluster wiring before sleeving State of the bike as I left it this evening, even got the rear lights/indicators on. Not sure if I'm gonna use them though, they sat on the bike before I tore into her.

Re: My Wing
Have not been in the garage yet this week but brought home the instrument cluster on my last visit. Since I won't be using a key for the ignition anymore I thought it would be a good place for a charger. So I ordered a cheapo USB charger/volt meter from amazon.
It fits really snug in the ignition hole, so snug that the threads on the charger got a bit scuffed.
The donor battery is running low double checked with multimeter and it reads 0.2V high at that voltage, good enough(cheap multimeter as well, have my good one at the garage). One positive/negative thing depending on how you look at it is that you need to start the device with the power on button every time you cycle the power. I'm thinking of putting it after the ignition switch so I would need to press the button every time I wanted to check the voltage for instance. On the other hand it will stay unlit if I don't so good for night riding I guess.
Also if you press the off button there is an annoying red led that lights up and will not shut off, that does not come up if you cycle the power and do not press the on button.
