The first rearend was way too low (4.44 to 1 ratio) so this second generation unit came from a 1980 Ford Pinto station wagon. the 3.25 ration was ideal to replace the 3.00 ratio of the CB900 rear case. The first unit caused the engine to turn 4,000 rpms at 40mph. The Pinto gear ratio brought the engine speed down, considerably. 4,000rpms at 60mph.
