Gl1100 engine gl1000 frame

I put a 1200 engine in a 1000 frame, and I did a LOT of spreadsheet work before I settled on an 1100 swingarm and final drive to match. As Eric says, there are so many variables in the whole powertrain in various years that you can't make a blanket statement about gearing changes. Even changing from a 16 to 17 1100 rear wheel will make a difference. Small, but it's there.
I didn't want a stoplight squirter, I wanted something lighter than a 1200 but with its punch and cruising ability. I didn't quite get that, because of the gearing stackup, but it is what it is.
