6C here today. Woke up to beautiful sunshine......with horizontal rain! What's with that??????
Rain has since stopped and it's a real nice day.....for once.

Edit: 3 hours later.......sun gone......2C and sleet! I hate this climate! Later we'll have 6" of snow, hurricanes, plagues of locusts or frogs, a few force 6 earthquakes (ok, I'm exaggerating about the snow..)

Eric you crack me up, if I'm ever hitchhiking, I hope you drive by. Darn, what is your policy for

Anytime it's below zero---celcius---means I'm wearing jeans. I stop for all pedestrians in parking pots etc. I shudder every time I pick one up. The worst I ever did was along the freeway in Northern Michigan. Picked up a heavily tatoo'd, teeth missing guy with a big army bag. After picking him up I drove about two miles and read, "Prison area, do not pick up hitchhikers." Apparently he was smart enough to walk backwards to before the sign. In chatting with him he said he had been at 'camp.' I was his lucky day as he was going to NJ and I was going through NY. I was really tempted to dump him before the Canadian border, but didn't. I got to the border and started the normal stuff. They asked him where he was from and his voice went up to level 11 out of ten and told them he had no ID. ------dead meat,--- full inspection---- including thumbing through the pages of every book I had, ---every thing was opened and gone through, everything. Three hours later, they came and told me we could go, but that I was to make sure he got back to the USA.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

so with the big dips in the jet stream, it turns out driving out to Oklahoma was better going through OH, rather than a southern route through KY.

It is the year of the never ending winter ... 2" on the ground this morning and still coming down. Warm moist air from the south met head on with cold dry air from Canada, fortunately this won't last long but just seeing it is pretty depressing :guitar

Yup, rain gear performed as designed!
Sheepskin on the Valk seat is soaked.
Had to give a class at 8 so I kept all my gear on until after that (got in about 6).

WF, you'll get a kick out of this....

The Maintenance Master Chief at that Squadron met me at the quarterdeck (coincidence) introduced himself (ironic, because "we've met") and got up on a soapbox roundly chastising me that it is unsafe to ride in this weather, berating me as if I'm one of his troops, wagging his index finger without dropping his coffee cup.... Then he goes on to tell how he got caught in the rain returning from Daytona, but kept on riding though it. I ended the conversation by saying, "well, I don't ride in the snow" (then I carried out the Plan of the Day). dancr

+7c and sunny here.

I had to change one of Eccles' head gaskets a couple of weeks ago and something has been spraying on my right leg and the side of the sidecar since. At first I thought it was what spilled when I took the head off (I am NOT going to wash a bike when it is below -10)(besides, oil prevents rust ) but it kept doing it. It seems to be coming from somewhere on the left side of the right head and spraying around onto my shin just below the tank. Long story short, I have been waiting for a warm, sunny day when I wasn't committed to something else to remove the tank and have a look. Today is that day. It should be nice out until the sun starts to go down.

And they are calling for s*** overnight and r***/s*** nix tomorrow morning.

Well, that was a pleasant hour spent out on the driveway working on a bike in the sunshine. And I finished just in time - what looks for all the world like snow clouds have cast their shadow over our town.

Oh, and Eccles leak? It seems that when I put the rocker cover back on after re-torquing the head I didn't get the rocker cover gasket lined up properly on the side I couldn't see with the tank on. I wish all my problems were that easy to fix ;)

Now if it would only warm up another few degrees I could kick the wife's car out of the garage and start getting ready to work on Mr.H.
