The Maintenance Master Chief at that Squadron met me at the quarterdeck (coincidence) introduced himself (ironic, because "we've met") and got up on a soapbox roundly chastising me that it is unsafe to ride in this weather, berating me as if I'm one of his troops, wagging his index finger without dropping his coffee cup.... Then he goes on to tell how he got caught in the rain returning from Daytona, but kept on riding though it. I ended the conversation by saying, "well, I don't ride in the snow" (then I carried out the Plan of the Day).
Looking out for the "Troops" is the biggest part of the job no matter who's troops they may be and us MMCPO's do tend to be opinionated SOB's!!
